Monday was rather warm. Blue skies but with a forecast high of 87.The 17th marked our first ACTION! Occupiers took a march from the State Housethrough the adjacent campus of The University of South Carolina. The whole marchlasted roughly an hour and included parading by the Russell House (student union)and through the historic section of campus known as the horseshoe. Protesterstook along a banjo, drums and a didgeridoo. Our second confrontation came when a group of what appeared to be students belonging to a fraternity, walked over from the university. The roughly 30 studentstalked among themselves for sometime and then decided to take a photo. Severalprotesters held their picket signs up in the background and a heated exchange resulted. Some of the older, occupation organizers intervened and the confrontationwas ended peacefully. A few of the members of the fraternity group had been seen insmaller groups asking pointed questions a few nights earlier, which they have everyright to do.March photos by Gareth Fenley.(Photos and info collected between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.)
