In the beginning

The first informational meeting was held Sunday October 2nd 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Finlay Park in Columbia, SC. It was promoted on Facebook and there were approximately 22 people in attendance. These photos are from the second meeting on Sunday October 9th 2011 where plans were laid to begin the occupation at the SC State House on Saturday October 15th 2011. Several groups were formed to tend to legal, media, food and other necessities. Crowds were larger at times, but some estimates put the number at 200 people.
